Frequent Flyer Account Expiry Rules Spread to Australia

American carriers have been changing the frequent flyer program rules over the past few years and now miles in most programs expire after 18 months if there is no qualifying activity. Now similar rules have been adopted by the Australian flagship airline Qantas. Per standard airline operating procedure they are putting a positive spin on the changes in a comment to daily newspaper Australian:
